First and foremost: Safety First . Safety is paramount in IDPA. Therefore, consistently adhering to the four safety rules is essential. Solid pistol training is also crucial. In an IDPA match (competition), you must complete a stage (course) against the clock, being as fast and accurate as possible. Mistakes can easily happen. If you're unsure about your shooting and handling skills, take my HST-30 handling shooting test . If you can achieve a Basic Level rating, you're definitely on the right track.

For equipment, you will need your own pistol, belt holster (OWB/IWB), magazine pouch, hearing protection, and safety glasses. You can find more information about IDPA on the FAQ page, as well as some fundamental YouTube videos

The next step would be for you to attend an IDPA Intro course , where you will learn all the important rules and at the end you will shoot the IDPA Standard Classifier.
